Sometimes the melody or the singer’s voice alone is enough to start the waterworks. But more often than not it reminds us of a time or a place or a person. Go to our Soundcloud page and record yourself telling us about the song that always makes you cry. No need to prepare an essay or anything, you can just ad-lib it. Tell us your first name, where you’re from, the song and why it makes you weepy. We’ll use some of the stories we get in an upcoming episode of All Songs Considered.
TdoubleB note: These songs do it to me
1. “When Did You Stop Loving Me” by Marvin Gaye
2. “Giving Up” by Donny Hathaway
3. “Fragile” by Sting (the version from “All This Time”)
4. “The Battle is the Lord’s” by Yolanda Adams
These aren’t sure-fire tearjerkers for me, but at one time or another in my life, these songs have turned on my waterworks.
1. “America the Beautiful” by Ray Charles
2. “Just as Though You Were Here” by Frank Sinatra
3. “For Good” - by the Original Broadway Cast of “Wicked” (I’m not proud)
4. “Take Me Home, Country Roads” - John Denver
5. “Home” - Michael Buble
